π¦ IC Information
Character Name: Sersi
Age: 7,000+ (looks mid thirties give or take)
Canon: MCU (Eternals)
Canon Point: End of Movie when Arishem abducts her, Phastos, and Kingo
Character History: Here
Canon Abilities: "Well, uh... I can change a rock into water. Uh, I could turn a rock into wood. Or a rock into metal. Actually, one time, I turned a rock into air."
Matter Transmutation - she can change the matter of one thing to another (ie: a rock to water, water to wood, wood to metal, etc. all interchangeable). Outside of the uni mind/the growing power from the emergence, however, she’s incapable of transforming sentient beings.
She’s also immortal and because she is technically not “alive” (she’s a fancy robot), she has an enhanced body, essentially. She’s more durable and agile than your average human would be, but as she's not really a fighter, these aren't abilities that are showcased.
Inventory: The necklace Ikaris gave her at their wedding and her Eternals armor.
π¦ Personality
Option 1:
- Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?
- If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.
- What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?
- Your character gets to return home, but when they do they learn that they've been gone for hundreds of years. How do they react?
Sersi has always believed in magic, or at least the presence of “superpowers”. She and her fellow Eternals have always had them, so it would be far fetched for her to not believe in the presence of them in some way. It was basically never a question, even with the possibility that others might possess powers or magic.
She’s never had a negative outlook, per se, on the idea of magic or superpowers. If anything, she’s more neutral about it as a whole. She doesn’t believe it’s inherently good or bad. After all, just because she and her fellow Eternals have used their powers to help those who needed it, she’s not naive enough to believe that’s how everyone with magic or powers would use them.
Just as some would argue about whether physical weapons are good or bad, magic depends on the person wielding it. The powers themselves are neutral.
Dane. In all seriousness, Sersi would follow any of her fellow Eternals into another realm without question. She depends on them, even though she’d been separated from most of them since Ajak sent them out to live their lives until the Emergence. But even more than following them (her chosen family), and if she was pressed to only list one person, it would be Dane.
Even though she hasn’t known Dane for nearly as long as the Eternals (and really, how could she?), she trusts him inherently. More importantly: he’s a mortal and, to her knowledge, has no powers. While he’s bright, charming, and the light of her life- he’s also made nervous by a class full of elementary aged students. (Rightfully so. Kid’s are intimidating!) Even though fighting has never been her forte, Sersi would feel the need to protect him in any way possible if there was even a possibility that this other realm was dangerous in any way.
Compassionate. In a pep talk, Thena told Sersi that the reason Ajak chose Sersi to lead them in her stead is because Sersi has loved human’s since the day they set foot on Earth. Her compassion and adoration for the human race has been Sersi’s driving factor for the last 7,000 years of her life. (The only 7,000 years she retains memories of out of the potential billions of years she’s lived out on various planets.)
Since Sersi’s powers made her better at support, that’s how she used them, which strengthened her love and sympathy for the people of the planet. It’s because of her compassion for humans that she defied their creator, Arishem, and stopped the Emergence. Her compassion is also why she was able to forgive both Ikaris and Sprite for the paths they ended up choosing in regards to the Emergence. While she felt betrayed by both of them, she ultimately sympathized with the reasoning behind each of their decisions.
While many could suggest that being compassionate can make someone soft, it’s the very thing that has made her strong and resilient in the face of a lot of turmoil and uncertainty.
Most importantly, it all depends on what Earth is like when she returns, because first and foremost her concern is the well being of the people and creatures of the planet.
But, hundreds of years is still just a blip in Sersi’s lifetime. However, because she’s grown so attached to a certain human, she would grieve the time lost. There’s a difference, after all, between a short lifetime spent together and losing the time they could have had together. (And it’s important to note that Dane made her extremely happy when she was finally moving on from Ikaris ghosting her, so he means quite a lot to her.)
Sersi would do her best to catch up on what happened during her absence, hopefully with the help of another Eternal… and she would hope to continue to help and live among the humans as best she can. Because she’s being taken from a moment that’s essentially a crossroad for her, she’d also have to grapple with the idea of what her place is on Earth now. She had chosen to stay behind with Kingo, Sprite, and Phastos before all of this happened and was starting to figure out what her life would look like now that she knows she’s more robot than alien.
